Sinclair is proud to provide Gifted & Talented Services at all grade levels. HISD’s advanced Academic Department has established processes for identification for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 11^th grade. Please note the GT identification process varies depending on your child's current grade level. Each process is detailed below:

 

At Houston ISD, we automatically test all 2nd Grade students who are not currently identified at GT in the Fall. There is no application needed.

 

Students who are new to the district or who were not identified/qualified have an opportunity to apply for GT identification once per year. Students who complete the application will be tested in October. Specific dates to come. Students will receive their identification matrix indicating if they qualify or did not qualify in March 2025. Any student who will be entering Kindergarten next school year, 2025-26 will have testing completed through the Office of School Choice in HISD. Your child will be tested based on the application you submit online. Please reach out to your zoned HISD school for more information.
