• The Friends of Montessori at Baker

     

    The Houston All-Montessori Project is now known by the name Friends of Montessori (FOM). The project, to find a location for an all Montessori elementary and middle school campus in the Houston Independent School District (HISD), is now complete in that the group worked to establish the program at Ella J. Baker Montessori (formerly Woodrow Wilson). In February of 2005, HISD and Friends of Montessori (FOM) entered into an agreement to create HISD's first All-Montessori school.
     
    The group of volunteers who worked to carry this project through continues to exist to support public Montessori in the Houston Independent School District. FOM is made up of volunteer parents, teachers, and community members dedicated to expanding the opportunity for, and maintaining the integrity and excellence of, Montessori programs in the Houston public schools.
