Every Heights student belongs to one of the five career pathways:
Business
The business academy is the home for students who have a desire to learn the foundations of business theories and practices through business management, retail management, and finance. Our goal is to work with core subject areas to provide students with the necessary tools and resources to be successful after high school. We strongly encourage all students to participate in the IB program to enhance their chances of being successful in college and/or career.
Transportation
Students study in specialized labs designed for automotive mechanics and repair. The program is certified by NATEF and students compete in SkillsUSA competitions.
Engineering
Students participate in VEX and FIRST Robotics, and have access to a NAO Humanoid Robot for programming, Markerbots 3D printers and an Arduino electronics lab.
Health Science
Students progressively expand their understanding of health careers and medical terminology, they gain clinical experience by shadowing at various health care facilities and as Seniors are allowed to work entry level health positions in partnership with Ben Taub Hospital.
Magnet: Technology
Students applying to the Heights Magnet Academy can go into Audio/Visual Production, Computer Programming, or Graphic & Web Design. Students also must participate in at least two advanced-level classes per semester and maintain excellent grades and attendance to remain in the program.
