    Chorus
Students in 3rd —5th grades are invited to audition for the Lovett Chorus during the 1st week of school. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Chorus performs for school programs, including the Holiday Program and the Spring Musical, as well as at performances outside the school. Chorus members will continue to develop proper singing skills, such as posture, breath control, singing voices, and sight reading. They will also learn to sing in large and small ensembles, and other aspects of choral performance.  Email Mrs. Martin for more information.

    Student Council

The Lovett Elementary Student Council offers students from 3rd – 5th grades the opportunity to actively participate in school-wide initiatives, lend their hands to community causes, and see democracy in action. While representing Lovett, these student leaders will gain responsibility, increased pride in their school, and an overall awareness of needs at a local level and develop ways to help. Representatives along with school officers will be held to high academic and citizenship levels. Elections for student council are held at the beginning of each school year. Fourth and fifth graders have the opportunity to run for an officer’s position. The council meets once a month after school. The faculty advisors for the Student Council are: Mrs. Benton, Mrs. Kraitman, and Ms. Boardman.

    Name That Book Team

Name That Book is a literary contest, coordinated by the HISD Department of Library Service that serves to acquaint HISD students with classic literature as well as contemporary award-winning books, representing a variety of genres. Lovett has two teams, K-2 and 3-5. Students who are interested in trying out for team should visit the Name That Book page to see the list of books and tryout date. Teams practice for the last 30 minutes of the school day, once per week, from October through the contest date. The district-wide competitions are held in the spring.  Email Mrs. Warner for more information.
