I am principal Edgar Contreras, a dedicated force for innovation within the Houston Independent School District (HISD).  With over 13 years of commitment, I consistently champion STEM education, focusing on student achievement at James Madison High School. 

My educational journey began over a decade ago, with diverse roles in HISD contributing to overall growth.  Beyond a professional interest, my fervor for STEM is a personal commitment to preparing students for our rapidly evolving world.  Through strategic initiatives and innovative programs, I create an environment nurturing curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 

As a visionary leader and catalyst for change, my tenure as an instructional technology coach exemplifies a forward-thinking approach, seamlessly integrating technology into the curriculum to prepare students for a tech-driven future.  Central to my philosophy is a student-centered approach.  Recognizing each student's uniqueness, I lead with a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, ensuring no one is left behind. 

At James Madison High School, I am on a mission to redefine success for every student.  My passion extends beyond academic excellence, envisioning graduates equipped with the skills and resilience for success in college, a career, or the military.  Under my leadership, James Madison High School thrives as a hub of innovation.  I tirelessly work to establish a culture where students are encouraged to dream big, set ambitious goals, and pursue their passions.  Through partnerships with local industries, mentorship programs, and college readiness initiatives, I craft a road map for success.
