    Assistant Principal

    Letra Johnican comes with over 10 years of experience in secondary education. Ms. Johnican is born and raised in the Greater Houston Area (Brazoria, Texas) and later attended Texas State University majoring in Communication Studies and Secondary Education. Shortly after graduation, she began her high school teaching career in Round Rock ISD. It was there she realized her passion for secondary education, school culture, SEL, and the importance of African American and Hispanic representation in our low socioeconomic/Title 1 schools. 

    After a few years of teaching, she obtained a Masters in Education Administration from Concordia University- Austin and moved back to the Houston area in the Fall of 2014 to begin her administrative journey. She taught and held various leadership roles at Holland Middle School (HISD) and also Hastings High School (Alief ISD). In her spare time she enjoys relaxing with her dog, boxing, HITT workouts, and spending time with friends and family. 

    Ms. Johnican believes that in order for our scholars to be successful, we must intentionally build and sustain relationships with our community, staff, parents, and students.

    Assistant Principal

    Anetra Hunt serves as an Assistant Principal, and helps to ensure that the school stays committed to excellence in teaching and learning for each student and every program. Anetra will be beginning her 19th year in Education in the fall of 2022. She is a graduate of Southern University-Baton Rouge, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She also hold a Masters of Arts in Counseling, and Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University.

    Her main goal is to support teachers to ensure that students discover their personal vision in life and reach their highest potential. Anetra believes that building strong relationships with students, families, and the community will help ensure the success of every student and create a safe, exciting, and engaging learning environment.

    Primary Job Responsibilities

    • Oversee the Special Education Department
    • Ensure federal and state compliance of IDEA
    • Assist in the facilitation of ARDs
    • Monitor students' schedule of services
