    PLEASE NOTE (Vanguard Magnet applicants):
*Vanguard Magnet applicants that are not G/T-identified in HISD must request G/T testing at either:

    HISD G/T Identification

The HISD matrix used to determine if a child is G/T in HISD includes a nationally normed standardized test as well as a cognitive abilities test. All students applying to a Gifted and Talented Neighborhood Program are required to take both tests.  HISD will only offer one testing window for G/T identification for the 2020-2021 school year, which will take place in November/December.  All students tested in this window who are identified as G/T will not receive GT services until the following school year.  There will be no other GT testing offered in HISD for this school year.  If you have questions regarding the GT testing window or GT Matrix, please contact the HISD Gifted and Talented department at 713-556-6954.

    Out of District Applicants

Houston Independent School District will not provide G/T Testing for out-of-district applicants.  Testing is only provided to students applying to vanguard schools the following year or those students currently enrolled in an HISD school.
