Thank you for your interest in the S. P. Waltrip High School Research and Technology Magnet Program!  Any student (zoned or non-zoned) interested in joining our magnet program must submit an HISD School Choice application and meet minimum matrix score requirements.

Our program strives to prepare Waltrip High School Magnet graduates for college and for the world in ways few others are.  Teachers, parents, students, staff, and administrators work collaboratively to create a College Bound and Career Ready Culture through the three pathways:

    Digital Media

    Graphic Design and Multimedia Arts

We challenge our students to set personal goals to reach advanced levels of academic achievement.  Students stretch themselves by taking on intellectual challenges through our rigorous and supportive AP, AP Capstone, Dual Credit, Career and Technology, and Fine Arts programs.  These programs provide students with diverse learning styles to help them become flexible, independent, 21st-century thinkers.  They expand their interests and pursuits beyond academics by participating in our Nationally Recognized RAM band, Award Winning Roses Dance Team, District Champion Girls Soccer, First in Texas Robotics Team, Awarded JROTC and many other athletic programs and clubs such as HOSA, Chess, National Honor Society and many more. We welcome you to come visit and take a tour!
