IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

  • HOUSTON FOOD BANK SCHOOL MARKET THIS SATURDAY

    The Houston Food Bank will be distributing fresh produce and pantry items here at Ortiz this Saturday, October 24th for all community members. Click English or Spanish for more information and to register for the event.   • RED RIBBON WEEK, OCTOBER 26 - 30, 2020

    To help promote Red Ribbon Week, the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign, we will have a different theme every day next week for students to follow if they choose to participate.

     

    Monday, October 26 - Proud to be Drug Free! Students and staff are encouraged to wear red to kick off Red Ribbon Week.

     

    Tuesday, October 27 - Peace Out to Drugs! Students and staff are encouraged to wear peace signs and/or tie-dyed shirts.

     

    Wednesday, October 28 - Team Up Against Drugs! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite sports shirt or jersey.

     

    Thursday, October 29 - Lei Off Drugs! Students and staff are encouraged to wear Hawaiian-themed clothes and/or leis.

     

    Friday, October 30 - Our School Chooses to Be Drug Free! Wear your grade level school shirt/color (6th grade = red; 7th grade = gray; 8th grade = navy blue).

  • PROJECT EXPLORE NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS

    Once again, Ortiz is offering students the opportunity to participate in Project Explore. This program provides college and career experiences for interested students. Click HERE for more information.

  • PARENT CODES FOR NEW HISD CONNECT

    HISD Connect by PowerSchool includes student contact, enrollment, and demographic information, as well as grades and online resources.

     

    Parents will be given a unique code, or access ID, for each of their students and will be able to use those codes to set up an account to access their students' profiles through the new parent portal.

     

    Parents have three options to obtain their code:

    • Email us at OrtizMS@houstonisd.org your student's name and grade level. We’ll email you the code sheet.
    • Fill out the survey at http://bit.ly/OrtizConnect and we’ll send you the code via text or email.
    • Call us at 713-845-5650 if you want a printed copy to pick up from campus.
