The Gifted and Talented program at Harvard Elementary School is called the Vanguard Neighborhood Program. Our program serves all students that attend the school whether you live in our attendance zone or attend on a magnet transfer. The program is identical in admission standards, teacher qualifications, depth, complexity, and differentiated instruction as the Magnet Vanguard Programs. Criteria for admission is based on the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students.
How to Apply for G/T Testing
For students currently enrolled in Grades K & 5
- All Kindergarten and 5th grade students who have not been identified as G/T, will participate in Universal Testing scheduled for Monday, November 6 – Thursday, November 9. Results will be available at the end of March 2018. Applications are not needed for Universal Testing.
For students currently enrolled in Grades 1st – 4th
- Parents of students in grades 1st - 4th may recommend their child for G/T testing through an application to be turned in by Thanksgiving break. Parents may turn in page 1 of the G/T application (see below) to the main office or child’s classroom teacher. Teachers may also recommend students for testing. Testing will take place Monday, December 4 – Thursday, December 7. Results will be available at the end of March 2018.
