Mrs. Hollie Zamora
I believe a quality education system starts with effective leaders inside the school and a clear vision that all can achieve greatness. Through my work in the classroom as a teacher, reading interventionist, instructional coach and now assistant principal, I’ve been able to see first hand what it takes for education to be successful for all students, regardless of socioeconomic status or background. Over the past 21 years in education, I’ve had the opportunity to work in both New Mexico and Texas, spending the last 16 years growing on one campus. This exposure to a wide range of cultures, backgrounds, and student needs has developed my understanding as
an educator.
I believe leadership is built on the foundation of meaningful relationships and transparent communication. Students need a strong community with positive role models to speak belief into their abilities. My daily drive is to create an environment of positive impact for staff, students and their families. Together we can develop our youth into leaders who create a positive impact.
I am passionate about continuing education and strive to grow myself daily. I believe habits are like investments; forming one today is an investment that yields returns for years to come. I enjoy reading new research, philosophies, theories and practices in education and psychology. My formal schooling was achieved at the University of New Mexico where I received a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education, with a minor in Math and Master’s of Arts in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies. I received my Educational Leadership studies from Eastern University of New Mexico. A current passion and focus of mine has been aimed at
understanding nuances in developing processes for creating effective readers.
In 2012, I was awarded teacher of the year. By 2020, I led a schoolwide initiative to increase positive interaction between students. This focus decreased referrals by 87%. Following this, I was elected to present our system at a statewide educational conference to share our process with neighboring districts.
I am so excited about this new journey and ready to serve the Horn community as Assistant Principal!
