     Grading Policy for Cycle 4

    Cycle 4 window (March 30 – June 1).

    • Ends: June 1st
    • Mail to Parents / Students: June 4
    • Students have from now to June 1 to complete their assignments online.
    • Techers will be submitting progress reports grades. 
    • Teachers will make parent contact when students.
    • Have missed work available in the HUB – organized per week/day
    • Grades for the 4th nine weeks should be based on assignments completed after March 13, 2020.
    • All grades earned during the 4th nine weeks should be weighted the same.
    • Chancery will average the grades for the 3rd and 4th nine weeks.
    • Final exams will be waived. Each nine-week grade would count as half of the semester grade.
    • Progress reports will still need to be provided to parents if the student’s performance in the subject is consistently unsatisfactory.

      • A: Class schedule has been modified to a block schedule to extend the time from 47 minutes to 90 minutes. If you miss a lesson, then you can contact your teacher for assistance. Some teachers will be recording lessons for you to watch later.

    Secondary Curriculum

    • HISD @ H.O.M.E. is working with HISD Communications to soon release an HISD @ H.O.M.E. TV schedule for secondary students.
    • Virtual TDS (Teacher Development Specialist) will be available to provide support to teachers. TDS are connecting with teachers they are supporting before Spring Break.
    • HPE and Language Other than English (LOTE-Spanish) enrichment/projects will be uploaded week of March 30.

     

    Digital resources added to H.O.M.E. site

    • The Houston Texans and partners have compiled FREE digital education resources for parents and teachers to help kids from preschool through high school “Huddle at Home” to stay active and keep their skills sharp. Content includes contests, math drills, activities and a character playbook. These resources are designed to bring some football fun to homes across Houston and beyond. https://www.houstontexans.com/community/huddle-at-home
    • Imagine Learning Lessons for home in English and Spanish will be uploaded for March 30.

     

     

    Communications

    • HISD Communications Team is launching HISD @ H.O.M.E. TV to bring free, educational programming to our students and families at home through television. Our Multimedia Team has been producing instructional videos in English & Spanish in collaboration with the Elementary and Secondary Curriculum departments.
    • In honor of the Cesar Chavez/Dolores Huerta holiday on Monday, March 30th, HISD @ H.O.M.E. TV will launch on Tuesday, March 31st. Families can access the lessons Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., on the following channels:
    • Comcast Ch. 18, U-verse Ch. 99.  
    • HISD @ H.O.M.E. TV can also be accessed online at the same times on houstonisd.org/livetv
    • HISD Communications is also partnering with Fox 26’s sister station UPN Ch.20 to broadcast HISD content. Starting the week of March 30, UPN Ch. 20 will air a one-hour video produced by HISD Communications on a weekly basis featuring a variety of lessons and information for our community. 
    • HISD Communications is also collaborating with Houston Public Media to promote HISD @ H.O.M.E. TV and also provide additional free, educational programing for parents and students through PBS TV Ch. 8 at-home learning.

    • District administration will re-evaluate on May 1, to determine whether a longer closure beyond April 10 will be necessary.
    • Starting March 31, teachers will be available remotely during their regular work schedule to support students, provide lessons and will be engaging with students daily. Students will be able to upload assignments to teachers as they have in the past via the HUB. Teacher will be working the week of March 23 on organizing their virtual classroom and planning their lessons.  Our goal is to create an online learning environment that allows for interaction between the teacher and the student as they will be participating in learning activities. HISD curriculum-based lessons and activities will go live on March 31.

    Greeting Fraga Parents and students, This is Principal Jose Santos with an important updates.  This new challenge had brought us into unfamiliar territory. As we have done in the past, we will stand strong together. Patience, understanding and flexibility will be needed during this timeframe as we do what is necessary for the safety and well being of students, staff and community. First message, I wanted to inform you that we received confirmation that the individual that possibly exposed the Fraga Academic Building tested negative for coronavirus.  Secondly, HISD has closed all schools.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, March 31st via virtual learning, however, starting tomorrow March 23, students can log in to the HUB and start interacting with the digital resources such as APEX Learning.  Thirdly, A survey will be launched on the school website to analyze our family needs.  Please complete the survey so that we know your needs.  Lastly, starting March 31, teachers will be available remotely during their regular work schedule to support students, provide lessons and will be engaging with students daily. Students will be able to upload assignments to teachers as they have in the past via the HUB. Teacher will be working the week of March 23 on planning and organizing their virtual classroom.  Our goal is to provide an online learning environment that allows for interaction between the teacher and the student as they will be participating in learning activities.     Saludo Fraga Padres y estudiantes, Este es el Director José Santos con importantes actualizaciones. Este nuevo desafío nos había llevado a un territorio desconocido. Como lo hemos hecho en el pasado, nos mantendremos firmes juntos. Se necesitará paciencia, comprensión y flexibilidad durante este período de tiempo, ya que hacemos lo necesario para la seguridad y el bienestar de los estudiantes, el personal y la comunidad.
