September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
A time to raise awareness on this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. The goal is to ensure that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help. If you are someone you know is in a crisis emergency please call the The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or call 911 immediately.
(713) 556-1340 (Social and Emotional 24 hour Health Line).
If you’re facing a crisis or need to talk to someone about challenges in your life, the EAP hotline 1-833-812-5181, a confidential resource, is available 24 hours a day at no cost. The EAP helps you and your family with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, loss, life adjustments and relationship/marital conflicts by offering up to eight free sessions with a professional counselor per person, per issue, per year.
The EAP’s work-life solutions provide referrals and resources for about anything on your to-do list, such as finding child and elder care; hiring movers or home repair contractors; planning events; and locating pet car. Onsite seminars will be provided throughout the year, so regularly check the HISD Benefits webpage and social media sites for upcoming sessions. To learn more about ComPsych’s Guidance Resources EAP, Logon to www.guidanceresources.com and use the Web ID: HISD or simply call toll-free 1-833-812-5181
