    Assistant Principal 

    Mrs. Tammy Russell is a native Houstonian who has taught in public education for 24 years. She has worked on the elementary, middle school and high school levels.   After seventeen years of teaching in the classroom as a generalist with a background in English Language Arts and Social Studies, Mrs. Russell served as a district curriculum coach, teacher specialist, behavior specialist and has served in many other capacities which developed into an Assistant Principalship. Mrs. Russell enjoys both the instructional and student discipline side of education.  She is excited to join James Madison High School as an Assistant Principal this school year.  Mrs. Russell is a firm believer that, “students must be taught HOW TO THINK, not what to think”.     Greetings Marlins!   

    I am Dr. Douglas E. Lewis and I am honored and excited to serve as one of the 11th grade assistant principals. I have been in K-12 education for 30 years in different capacities and a proud resident of Houston.  

    I attended HISD schools, and I am a proud graduate of Lamar High School.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Texas Southern University and my master’s degree from Texas A&M University then a Ph.D. from Trinity Theological Seminary.

     My goals are to:

    ·        Serve the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.

    ·        Maintain a safe, trusting, and caring environment for our students, staff, parents and community members. 

     

    I am looking forward to an awesome year of building relationships and exceeding expectations at Madison.
