  • Butteris Jacqueline, Jackee, Butteris was born and raised in Eastern Iowa. After attending Iowa State University, she moved to Houston to begin her career in education. Before becoming a Teacher Specialist, she had served the Houston area as a teacher, a Dyslexia Skills Specialist, a Reading Skills Specialist, and a Literacy Coach. She believes that strong relationships with the students, parents, staff, and community of Madison High School are key to the success of the school. Her main goal is to support teachers in the development of best practices, to ensure that every student enjoys being on campus and experiences success. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, attending concerts/sporting events, and traveling.

EL Instructional Specialist

    Laura Olivia Del Rio was born and raised in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.  Her family immigrated to the US when she was 15 years old.  Since she was four years of age, she knew she wanted to be a teacher like her mother.  She fell in love with Hispanic Studies and Literature in high school.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Communications at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas.  She continued her studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and earned a Master of Arts in Modern Languages.  She was an Assistant Lecturer at Texas A&M and Blinn College for five years before becoming a Spanish teacher in secondary schools.  She has worked in Bryan ISD, Miami Dade School District and for the last eight years in Houston ISD at Madison High School.  As a Teacher Specialist her mission is to support English and Spanish Language learners become biliterate and achieve their educational goals.  She feels it is her true calling to serve the students, parents and staff at James Madison High School and she is very proud to be a Marlin! Mrs. Del Rio LOVES her family, traveling and learning about different cultures in the world.  Her favorite phrase is “Carpe Diem”.
