LaFoscia Maxie is the proud principal of S.C. Red STEM Magnet School. With more than 22 years of experience in education, her experiences have included teaching kindergarten, first, and fifth grades as a Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. Additionally, she has served as a Reading and Dyslexia Interventionist and Literacy Coach at the high school level. Principal Maxie's educational background is varied. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Psychology from Fisk University, graduate coursework in Second Language Acquisition at the University of St. Thomas, and has completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Schreiner University. This is her third opportunity at Red ES, serving as a teacher, then returning as a magnet coordinator, and now as our principal. Along with guiding students and staff, she loves to read, paint, and go to concerts and sports games. All three of her children have attended and graduated from Red. Her main priorities are safety at all levels, high-quality instruction, and a healthy school culture.
