Eligibility and Requirements

  • Eligibility

    Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s commitment to a career and technical program, grades, extracurricular activities, and financial need. Finalists are subject to personal interviews. To be eligible, a student must:

    • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States
    • Be an HISD student
    • Meet the federal definition of low socio-economic status or be eligible for free or reduced lunch
    • Have achieved a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) or 3.0 for all Health Science programs
    • Complete the FAFSA application and submit SAR (Student Aid Report).

    Requirements

    Students awarded this scholarship must:

    • Enroll in an approved two-year workforce certificate/associate’s degree program in the Houston area
    • Use this scholarship toward any educational expenses of the approved program (excluding transportation, food, housing)
    • Complete the approved degree/certificate program within two years of acceptance
    • Submit a copy of your unofficial transcript at the end of each semester
    • Submit a copy of your student account summary upon registration each semester
    • Return all items purchased at $600 and above back to the foundation if program of study is discontinued before degree/certificate completion
    • Comply with all terms and conditions listed on Page 5 of the scholarship application
