The supplies and materials students need to be successful in the Montessori environment differ somewhat from traditional school supplies. Therefore, INSTEAD of providing a traditional school supply list, GOMM has a supply fee, which is optional but highly, highly encouraged. 

The fee is collected by the GOPTO to allow teachers to purchase school supplies specific to the needs of their own Montessori classrooms, which most teachers strongly prefer. This supply fee prevents teachers from purchasing unique Montessori learning supplies out of pocket, and it saves families from the hustle and bustle of school supply shopping.
