Welcome students!
You have made it to the end of this academic year! Congratulations!
It is important for you to retain the math concepts that you learned this year in school. In order to help you with this, we have a summer packet for you. If you are a returning student, you know how vital this packet is! If you are an incoming freshman, you will realize it by the end of the first week of school in August.
Please take a minute to click and read the information on the Home page with your student and encourage your student to work on this Summer Assignment without any distractions, with no calculator, AND with a timer--timing themselves to aim for about 2-3 minutes per question-- so that they are prepared for everything DeBakey Math that is coming their way.
Choose your new grade level, then choose the math course that you will be taking. The review packet contains questions from classes for which you have already received credit (the past years). For example, if you are going to take Algebra 1 next, the packet contains questions over concepts that you learned in sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade math. If you are taking Geometry next, then the packet contains questions from Algebra 1 as well as 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade math.
You are expected to have mastery (not just understanding) of those concepts before taking the next course. In fact, your first quiz in cycle 1 will be a review quiz over the concepts in the prerequisite classes (the content of the packet).
It is recommended that you start as early as possible on this packet as you may need more time or help on certain concepts.
To ensure your success in your first semester, any dependency on the calculator must be eliminated prior to that first week.
