NAME: Lauren Harrington
BACKGROUND INFO: Lauren Harrington grew up in Beaumont, Texas, training at Marsha Woody Academy of Dance and iRule Dance Studio. She continued taking dance on a collegiate level at Belhaven University and then at Lamar University, graduating with a B.A. in English and a minor in Dance. Post graduation, Ms. Harrington became a member of Ad Deum II Dance Company and danced with them Spring 2014- Spring of 2016. Lauren has performed works by Randall Flinn, Shizu Yasuda, Durell Comedy (former company member of Limon Dance Company), and Dani Hammack (former company member of Martha Graham). While a company member of ADII, Lauren performed nationally at Project Dance Houston and NYC. Her international performance experience includes cities throughout Spain and Hungary, where she performed and taught in children’s homes, juvenile detention centers, prisons, and churches. As a choreographer, Ms. Harrington has choreographed for multiple musical productions, including Seussical the Musical Jr., 101 Dalmatians Jr., and Willy Wonka. Ms. Harrington has also spent ten plus years teaching dance in both Beaumont, Tx and Houston, Tx. She has taught ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, lyrical, social dance, hip-hop, and pointe technique. Ms. Harrington joined the Milby family fall of 2020. She is very excited for the year ahead and to continue teaching dance and directing the Milby Cadettes.

Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:15-1:15, Monday-Thursday from 1:30- 1:50
GRADING POLICY:
Classwork/Participation 45%
Homework 10%
Quizzes 15%
Projects/Tests 30%
Participation consists of the student dressing out for class and dancing each day. Doing both will earn the student a score of 100% for that day. Students who do not dress out in the required attire will still be expected to participate and will earn a score of 70% for that day. Refusal to participate will result in a score of 0% for that day. Students who are sick or injured must have their parent or guardian email me to inform me of the student’s case. My contact information is: lauren.harrington@houstonisd.org
A note from the school nurse will also be more than sufficient when a student is feeling ill. Students who are sick or injured will be given an alternate written assignment to complete during class. Failure to complete the assignment will result in a score of 0%.
Class Performance: Students will be asked to perform in front of their peers each six weeks, as part of their exams. If circumstances allow- and Covid does not restrict us- students will also be asked to perform for family and friends in a concert during second semester.
