    I started teaching in 1996. I hold certifications in English as a Second Language (ESL) PK-12, Generic Special Education PK-12, Elementary Self-contained Grades 1-8, and School Librarian EC-12. I am also an HISD Certified Online Instructor. I have been a librarian since 2007.

    I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Santo Tomas (Manila, Philippines) and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas. 

    I was selected 2014 Houston ISD Librarian of the Year.

    I am also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Phi Mu Honor Societies.
  • CLUBS and ORGANIZATIONS
     
    Name That Book Club

    • The Name That Book Contest is coordinated by the Department of Library Services. It serves to acquaint HISD students with classic literature as well as contemporary award-winning books, representing a variety of genres.

      Name That Book Club Members: Students have to read 30-40 books. Quotes/lines will be read from the books and students must be able to name the books correctly. They will compete with other students from other schools.

      The Milby Name That Book Team:

               Finalists 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015
               Placed Third Overall 2012, 2013, 2014 and Second Over all in 2015

       
     


     

    Milby Peace Club
     

    Milby is registered in ECO Schools USA. The Peace Club is spearheading the recycling efforts as a participating school in the Wriggley Litter Less Campaign.

    Our members collect recycling.
       Recycling Schedule: Every Friday during lunch or early dismissal days 1:00 - 2:00 pm



     
     
     
     

    The Library has a collection of Manga and Comics books. We have a Manga Club sponsored by Mr. Conrad and Mr. Suire. 

    Manga Club is open to students with a passion for Anime and Manga.

    Manga” as a term used outside Japan refers specifically to comics originally published in Japan.

    Anime is the Japanese abbreviated pronunciation of animation.
