This week students have a chance to engage in a bit of fun for spirit week. We are combining Spirit and Red Ribbon week. The district created the themes for Red Ribbon Week to recognize the national drug prevention program. Spirit Week is a lead up to our annual Fall Festival, which has been postponed to Monday, November 4th. An explanation of themes will be included in a follow-up email. Students are still required to adhere to appropriate school attire. It is not a free dress week and it must be obvious which theme they are following. Students can always wear their school uniform if they want to opt out of Spirit and Red Ribbon week. Please note that the district has prohibited students in secondary schools from dressing in costumes for Halloween. An alternate theme will be announced soon. |

Students, the fall festival has been postponed to Monday, November 4th. On this day, students will be allowed time to participate in the fall festival during regular school hours. There will be games, sports, and fun activities to engage students. Students may choose to wear their school uniform or jeans with a spirit shirt. Be advised that, students with accumulated detentions, may not be allowed to participate until their assignments have been served. Students should reach out to their AP to find out if they have any outstanding detentions. |

This Friday is the last day of cycle 2 and it’s the last day students can makeup or turn in assignments. Parents can expect to see reports cards next week. Remember that the Fall semester average is composed of cycles 1-3, each counting 30% with the final making up 10%. Please speak to your scholar about their academic progress and continue to monitor their grades online on HISDConnect (PowerSchool). Students may be placed in a mid-day tutorial session in an effort to provide them with the support they need to be successful in their classes. Mid-Day Tutorials will be held Tuesday through Friday. All students are required to attend their assigned tutorials or study hall sessions. Failure to attend may result in detention. |

Students are you interested in taking an AP Exam for a course in which you are NOT enrolled? If YES, then we can make that happen. Begin by navigating to Schoolpay.com and pay the $99 fee for each test you wish to take. Bring your receipt to Dean Shargey in room 201 and she will guide you with the rest of the steps to get you all set for the test in May 2025. |
