Welcome Back to School

Read the Welcome Back Letter from Milby Principal, Ms. Pena.

Dear Milby Parents,

We at Milby High School would like to welcome everyone back to campus for the 2021-2022 school year.  We are excited to start this year because we know that we will produce wonderful opportunities and memories for our students. Our school year will begin Monday, August 23, 2021.

Our school day starts at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 3:30 pm., Monday through Friday. As the new school year begins, I would like to emphasize the importance of good attendance.  Students should make every effort to be at school each day.  We have all learned the importance of being present over the past year.

At Milby, we work hard to maintain a safe environment for all students and staff members.  The COVID-19 situation is always changing and requiring us to be flexible as we work to keep everyone healthy and safe.  We will follow the district’s “Ready Set Go,” 2021-2022 Back to School Plan to ensure safety.  The document can be found at houstonisd.org.  Please know that the plan can change based on government and institutional regulations.

Additionally, our physical safety and security remains important.  Monthly drills prepare us for unlikely but potential threatening situations, and we do perform random searches of classrooms.  Our students and community are important, and we work to practice Safety.

As our district continues to change, we at Milby High School will continue to strive to provide the best educational opportunities for all our students.  We hope everyone has had a safe and restful summer.  We will see students back on Monday, August 23, 2021, at 7:50 am.

I appreciate your continued support as we work together for the success of our students.

Principal,

Ruth Pena
