    Coach Ortiz

    Coach Ortiz has been at Pershing since 2009.  He has coached girls soccer at Pershing since the 2011 season and Cross Country since 2016.  He graduated from the University of Houston in 2006.  He got into teaching and coaching a few years after graduation, started at Pershing as a science teacher and has been there ever since.  He does his best to train students to succeed and give them the best experiences possible in soccer and cross country.

     

    Tryout Information: Cross Country is a 7th and 8th grade (UIL sport). There are no tryouts as long as you can make the trainings, and the season starts late August and ends mid-October. 

    Equipment: All you need are your running shoes!

    Practices: Training occurs before school 3 times a week from 6:50 – 8am.

    Games: Meets are on Saturday mornings (and an occasional mid-week meet). There are 5-6 total meets in the year.  Most meets are 2 miles.
