GT Testing for 2025-26 School Year

  • GT TESTING ROUND 2: If your child is currently in 5th or 8th grade and enrolled or zoned to HISD and not already been identified as gifted and talented in both reading and math or tested this year, HISD is offering a second round of G/T testing for these two transition grades. This will provide an opportunity for G/T identification and admission to a secondary Vanguard Magnet campus that requires G/T identification for enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.

    Middle School Vanguard Campuses: Black MS, Burbank MS, Hamilton MS, Lanier MS, T.H. Rogers

     

    For enrolled families, please make sure you input the student’s ID number so they are tested at their enrolled campus.  Zoned families must reside in the primary residence of the HISD-zoned campus. We will not test non-zoned students.

    Gifted & Talented Testing Application

     

    If your student is Entering Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year and applying for
    enrollment at a Vanguard Magnet campus, testing MUST be requested now. Additionally, if
    your student is currently in grades K-12 and seeking Gifted and Talented identification or
    attending a school that mandates it for admission, testing MUST also be requested at this
    time.

     

    This is the ONLY TESTING OPPORTUNITY BEFORE THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR.

     

    Please note that parents and families of second-grade students or students who have previously been identified as Gifted & Talented in both math and reading do not need to request additional testing.

    Who should apply?

    • Current West U non-GT students (if desired), including students who did not qualify in all subject areas. 
    • Non-HISD students (private school) zoned to West U Entering K-12 (25-26 SY) zoned to West U
    • Non-GT 2nd graders in HISD will automatically be tested at their enrolled school, so they do not need to apply.
