Testing will start at the beginning of each day, and it is very important that your child be on time to school each day at 7:30 am.

To maintain test security, students will not be allowed to have cell phones or any other device capable of taking pictures or connecting to the internet with them in the classroom or on their person on testing days. This includes, but not limited to, iPads, iPhones, smart watches, eReaders, or similar technology. If a student needs to bring a cell phone to school, the phone must remain in the student’s backpack and powered off. If a student is found with a cell phone or other device in their possession during testing, their test will be invalidated, causing the student to fail the assessment.

If your child is ill the morning of the test and will not be attending school, please call the Roberts Elementary main office at 713-295-5272 to inform us of the absence. For any student absent on the day of a STAAR assessment, make-up testing will be completed within the STAAR Testing window.

Please support us in preparing your child so they have every opportunity to perform well. We encourage your help by offering the following suggestions for your child:

    • Get a good night’s sleep.
    • Eat a healthy breakfast (breakfast at school begins at 7:30 A.M.).
    • Be on time to school by 7:30 A.M.
    • Remind your child to do their best.
    • Maintain a calm and supportive home environment.
    • Send a dry snack for students to eat while testing.

Thank you in advance for encouraging your student to leave all unnecessary technology at home for testing days. We appreciate your continued support. If you have questions regarding the STAAR assessments, please contact me at ezatzkin@houstonisd.org.
