PowerUp is a districtwide initiative aimed at preparing students for the world beyond the four walls of the classroom. Part of this effort includes the district’s one-to-one laptop program, which provides every high school student with a laptop to use for learning at school and at home. For this privilege, each student is required to pay an annual, non-refundable $25 fee.Westside High School students "PoweredUp" for the first time in January of 2015. Since then, teachers have incorporated technology in their lessons to help provide rigorous, engaging instruction.
2018-2019 DeploymentAugust orientation will be the primary deployment time for the '18-19' school year. Students can pick up their laptops in the library during orientation.
Students are expected to have their laptop on the first day of school Aug. 27, 2018!
- Seniors: Tuesday, August 14, 2018 - during senior orientation
- Juniors: Wednesday, August 15, 2018 - during junior orientation
- Sophomores: Thursday, August 16, 2018 - during sophomore orientation
- Freshmen: Friday, August 17, 2018 - during freshmen Wolf Camp orientation
Paying the $25 Fee
To pick up a laptop, students must pay the $25 laptop fee. To pre-pay before August 2018 orientation, use SchoolPay (click here) to pay online with a credit card!At orientation or anytime during the school year, students can pay at school with cash.If the student is an incoming Freshman to Westside High School and you are unable to find the student through the shortcut above, please click here.Laptop CasesStudents are required to keep their laptop in the district issued case at all times. Random laptop sweeps will be conducted and any laptop without a case will be sent to the Tech Room. Teachers will also collect laptops without cases from students and turn them in to the Tech Room. Laptops will be available for pick up the following school day in the Tech Room if the student comes with their case.The cost to replace a lost case is $15.
