Hamilton's Vanguard Magnet Program provides an emphasis on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Each of the three years, Vanguard students participate in a technology-focused course.  These classes help students to establish mastery in practical technology-based skills and to build competence in a variety of research and presentation applications.  Program participants have opportunities for experiences designed specifically for them, as well as access to all campus-based athletics, arts, extra-curricular, and academic programs. 

Characteristics of an AHMS Vanguard Program Participant:

• Gifted and talented
• Academically-oriented
• Above-average knowledge of basic skills
• Ability to concentrate and work independently or cooperatively
• Demonstrates unique or unusual creative approaches
• Needs or is comfortable in accelerated class environment
• Displays leadership

Alexander Hamilton M.S. Vanguard Magnet program follows the guidelines outlined by the HISD School Choice and Gifted and Talented Offices to ensure all program participants receive an exceptional and rigorous academic experience.
