Kindergarten students at Kolter Elementary come to us with a wide range of social maturity levels and academic readiness. The teachers accommodate these differences by differentiating the HISD curriculum and following developmentally appropriate practices supported by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Activities to deliver the curriculum may vary.

Educational Background: I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education (Goooooo, Cooooogs!) I also hold a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University.
Certifications: I am certified in Early Childhood Education through 4th grade, English as a Second Language certified (ESL), and Principal Certified K-12.
Professional Experiences: I started my teaching career in 2008 as a 3rd grade teacher in HISD. After 3 years, I was given the opportunity to teach Kindergarten at Gloria Marshall Elementary, a DAL (Discovery Approach Learning) campus in Spring ISD, where I fell in love with teaching Kindergarten. I must say that Kinder is where my heart is. I am excited about this new year of learning for my scholars. I am thrilled about joining the Kolter family and anxious to meet my new bunch of Kinder Cougars!

Educational Background: I graduated from Texas A&M (WHOOP!) with both my undergrad and masters degree. I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6 and then again in 2016 with my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.
Certifications: I am certified in Early Childhood Education through 6th grade, English as a Second Language certified, and Gifted and Talented/Vanguard certified.
Professional Experiences: I started my teaching career in kindergarten at Kolter Elementary in 2016, and have been a Kolter Cougar ever since!

Educational Background: I grew up in Houston and attended HISD schools throughout my whole childhood. I graduated from Louisiana State University (geaux tigers!) where I received my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.
Certifications: Grades PK-4th, English as a Second Language (ESL), Gifted and Talented/Vanguard
Professional Experiences: I started my career in 2008 as a 1st grade teacher in HISD at Ray K. Daily Elementary. 2 years later, I moved to Omaha, Nebraska where I taught Kindergarten for 5 years at Cody Elementary School in Millard Public Schools. I was ecstatic to move back to Houston in 2015 and teach Kindergarten at Kolter. I have been a proud Kolter cougar ever since!

Educational Background: I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a Minor in Early Childhood Education from Prairie View A&M University.
Certifications: I am a certified teacher with specialties ranging from Early Childhood to 6th grade.
Professional Experiences: I have taught in the HISD for 21 years. I started my career at Montgomery Elementary School teaching Kindergarten from 1999-2003. In 2007 I transitioned to Almeda Elementary School where I started as Literacy Coach from 2007-2010. Once the grant ended, I returned to the classroom and taught 1st and 2nd Grade until 2014. In 2014 I joined Martin Luther King Jr. Early Childhood Center where I taught Pre-K from 2014-2023. I am elated to join the Kolter family and teach Kindergarten!

Educational Background: I am certified in Early Childhood through Sixth Grade, Generalist.
Certifications: I have been teaching since 2012. I have previously taught 4th Grade and Kindergarten. For the last few years, I have been teaching 2nd grade here. I'm excited to be returning to Kindergarten!
Professional Experiences: I love spending time with my family, friends, and my fur baby, Millie. I am a huge Houston Astros fan and often go to the games. I love to get lost in a good book. I enjoy being outside when the weather cooperates.
