Third Grade

Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos! Bienvenue! 你好 Nǐ hǎo

Third Grade is a transition year. Students are no longer learning to read, but rather reading to learn. This year provides the students with the opportunity to apply new found knowledge and skills in a fun and nurturing classroom.

In Language Arts, students begin to understand the elements and connections of literature and writing. Becoming comfortable with the concepts of cause and effect, summary, main idea, drawing conclusions, character study and plot development, the student begins to analyze literature in different genres. The student captures ideas from the literature on paper in a thoughtful, organized way.

Social Studies gives our students the opportunity to refine map skills and explore the components that make up a community.

Math and Science are integrated studies. Using our pond, garden, and discovery room as a spring board, students enhance critical thinking skills with exploration of Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Physical Science.

Math Skills are put to the test as the student develops an understanding of multiplication and division. Problem solving and critical thinking skills are found in all we do.
