Theater Arts Program

  • The Chavez High School Theatre Arts Department offers a wide range of skills in acting and technical theater.

Acting classes help build valuable life skills such as public speaking, confidence, team building, problem solving, self-expression, and awareness.

Technical Theatre Classes teach lighting and sound design, set construction, costume design, hair and makeup design, and stage management.

Student actors have many opportunities to compete and demonstrate their talents.

Several student actors that have graduated, are presently attending college on theatre scholarships even though they had not planned on theatre as a career choice.

Some of our student actors are attending college pursuing education in

    • Lighting Design in Chicago
    • Performance Acting at UT Austin
    • Theater at Yale University

Some of our student actor alumni have begun to work professionally and have appeared in TV commercials.
