    Below are a list of questions submitted by students and teachers to CVHS administration.  If you have a question about the CVHS re-opening plan that is not addressed below, please email cvhs@houstonisd.org.

  • Do any students have to physically return? 

  • Can a student opt for virtual instruction once they are on campus?

  • What happens if too many kids sign up for in-person school? Will priority be given to a certain grade level or will we only go to school on a rotating basis?

  • For students who elect for virtual instruction, can the gym/courtyard be “open” like a public library to work? 

  • Will we have the same teacher if we choose virtual learning? If we choose in-person learning?

  • When will students know which of their teachers will be physically returning to campus?

  • What happens if my teacher continues instructing virtually but I choose face-to-face in-person instruction? 

  • If we choose virtual learning, will we be able to take the PSAT / SAT in October (grades 9, 11, 12)?

  • Will bus transportation be provided?

  • Will students have assigned seats in each classroom?

  • If there are students in the gym from multiple different classes doing virtual learning, how will distractions be minimized while students are talking and engaging in different classes at the same time?

  • How much space is there in the gym for overflow?

  • If there are too many students in a classroom, how will it be determined which students are assigned to the gym?

  • If a student is assigned to the gym for virtual learning, can the student just go home?

  • Does an assignment to the gym for overflow purposes last the entire six week period?

  • How will students who select in-person instruction be assigned to the classroom vs. gym? 

  • Can students “opt” to work outside instead of the gym?

  • Can students “opt” to be in the gym all-day to minimize their “hallway exposure”?

  • Will science lab experiments on campus be different from virtual labs for online learning?

  • Will all assignments be submitted online or will some items be submitted physically if in person?

  • If a student cannot attend in-person on a given day, can they stay home and attend virtually and not be counted absent?

  • What PPE and cleaning supplies are provided for teachers and students?

  • If there is a sudden surge in covid-19 cases, are we able to temporarily change from in-person to virtual learning?

  • What happens when there’s a suspected or reported case of COVID?

  • What if a student has allergies?

  • What does a student do if feeling sick?

  • What does a student do if they start feeling sick at school?

  • How much freedom will students have during lunch? Very little to no freedom. There is very restricted movement throughout the campus due to social distancing measures.

  • Will students be able to use the microwaves in the cafeteria?

  • Will seniors be allowed off-campus lunch?

  • Will water fountains be available?
