    Mrs. Melissa Matsu attended St. John’s high school. She went on to earn a degree in marine biology from the University of Miami, teacher certification from the University of St. Thomas, and a Masters degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston. She did her student teaching at DeBakey high school for health professions. She then taught at Lee high school in HISD and Kempner high school in Fort Bend ISD before joining the Carnegie Vanguard faculty in 2006 as a pre-AP biology teacher. She moved out of the classroom in 2012 to become the Instructional Coordinator and then became Dean of Instruction of CVHS in 2014.

    Mrs. Matsu has led several international trips with students including Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Spain, France, and Italy. She enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her three adorable dogs! She volunteers in her spare time with the Junior League of Houston as well as AniMeals, a program where low income seniors receive pet food deliveries for their companion animals.
