Mr. Juan Garner
A 1989 graduate of Lufkin High School, Mr. Garner earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Houston and master’s degree in history from Texas Southern University. He started his teaching career as an intern at St. John's School in the fall of 1996. Mr. Garner taught two years at Waltrip High School and four years in the Jones High School Vanguard Program before moving with the Vanguard program in 2002-03 to 10401 Scoot Street. With the retirement of Andy Dewey, Charles Swenson, and Bob Jonas in the Spring of 2015, Mr. Garner is the only remaining faculty/staff member from the Jones Vanguard Program. He taught AP World History and AP European History until becoming assistant principal in 2008-09 and stills continues to teach AP European History.
