Welcome to AP Literature and Composition or English IV, whichever course you have chosen to take!
My name is Q. Zhang and I am your course instructor. This is my 18th year teaching at DeBakey High School, the first high school I have ever taught at, and I absolutely love being a member of the DeBakey family. Though I am not going to see you in person, for now, I will do my best to make this a fulfilling experience via the DeBakey Virtual Campus. You can participate in many school-related activities and obtain up-to-date course information through the DeBakey HUB page.
In my 30-year teaching career, I have always believed that teaching and learning is a two-way street. In the ELA courses, it is particularly so. By reading a wide range of literary texts, we can learn from those fictional or non-fictional characters and then share our observations and thoughts in discussions or reflect them in writing. I hope this course properly equips you for the future with not only academic intelligence but also the life skills needed to become wiser and better human beings.
The Covid-19 pandemic has brought frustration and inconveniences to many of us; however, it has also provided an opportunity for us to become more flexible, more tolerant, more resilient and more eager to learn new ways of living our lives to the fullest. Regardless if it is online or in person, should you need help, please email or contact me via Team. I will be here for you throughout this year. In June 2021, I shall see you off when you are about to embark on the journey of higher learning where you will continue to grow into a happy, independent, and productive citizen.
