Ms. Erica G. Alderete

Ms. Erica Alderete is the Magnet Coordinator at Houston Academy for International Studies.  Prior to joining the HAIS family, she was part of the Alexander Hamilton Middle School (AHMS) team for seven years in various roles including 7th Grade ELAR teacher, Teen Leadership Instructor, and Magnet Coordinator.  She began a number of programs at AHMS including beginning the first middle School Rotary International Interact Club.  She is a proud product of H.I.S.D. (River Oaks Elementary School, Meyerland M.S., and Northside High School).  After high school, she received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston - Downtown and took part in the Brazilian Internship Program through the International YMCA, which led her to persue a Master of Arts in International Education from New York University. She studied in Accra, Ghana and Puebla, Mexico and taught in Madrid, Spain.  Her passion for travel led her to lead student groups abroad in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
