Mr. Joseph Mata - Assistant Principal, Class of 2026
Mr. Mata is a “now native to Houston” upon his arrival in 2004. Mr. Mata came to Houston ISD a six year veteran teacher and has served the Southwest region of Houston for the past 20 years. This graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio and University of Saint Thomas graduate has supported student social emotional learning and academic learning in his various roles within Houston ISD. Mr. Mata started as a teacher of English and Reading and J. J. Pershing Middle School where he served for 10 years. Mr. Mata celebrates his 10th year in leadership after serving at Jack Yates High School, Wraparound Services, and Wisdom High School. His motto is: “our students deserve the very best; even they do not know it”. His experience affords him the gift to support the whole child; academic and social and emotional. He is proud to serve Houston ISD and Wisdom High School.

Mrs. Monique Moody - Assistant Principal
Mrs. Moody serves as the 11th Grade Assistant Principal at Wisdom High School, and is a proud product of Houston Independent School District! She graduated from the Jack Yates Senior High School. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Health Administration and a Masters in Education Administration and Supervision. She has been in education for almost ten years. She started her career in Hampton City Schools in Hampton, Virginia as a middle school math teacher and after-school program coordinator. She continued her career in education in various charter, public, and juvenile justice environments in the greater Houston area, serving as a Mentor Math Teacher, Grade Level Chair, Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal. Mrs. Moody is passionate about making schools a safe, yet exciting place to learn and grow.

Ms. Nimmi Thomas - Assistant Principal
My name is Nimmi Thomas, and I am a proud general at Wisdom High School. I joined the campus two years ago as an Assistant Principal. I joined HISD in 2000 and served in multiple roles, and every role has made me a stronger educator and an instructional leader. I have a Master’s Degree (MSW) from Bombay University and an MBA-E from St Thomas University, Cameron School of Business in Houston. I am certified in Special Education, Dyslexia, ESL, ELA 8-12, and Principalship. I firmly believe that all students can learn if given the right opportunity no matter the barriers they face in life. I am a situational leader, and my principal values of education are empathy, equal opportunities, respect for the environment, and promoting critical thinking.
