Welcome to De Zavala Elementary School – A Vanguard Magnet Campus!

 It is an honor to serve as the principal of De Zavala Elementary, proudly located in Houston ISD’s historic East End. At De Zavala, we are deeply committed to educating the whole child by fostering both academic excellence and social-emotional growth through meaningful and purposeful teaching and learning.

Our vision is to cultivate a rigorous and supportive learning environment that inspires students to reach their full potential. As a Vanguard Magnet campus, we encourage high expectations, critical thinking, and a love for learning in every classroom.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Bilingual Education from the University of Texas–Pan American and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. My educational journey has shaped my deep belief in the power of collaboration between school, families, and the community.

At De Zavala, we are often referred to as the "hidden gem" of the East End.  With your continued support, we are committed to shining even brighter. I operate with an open-door policy and genuinely welcome your input and partnership as we strive to make De Zavala Elementary the best school in our district.

Es un honor ser directora de la Escuela Primaria De Zavala, ubicada con orgullo en el histórico East End del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Houston (HISD). En De Zavala, estamos profundamente comprometidos con la educación integral del niño, fomentando tanto la excelencia académica como el crecimiento socioemocional mediante una enseñanza y un aprendizaje significativos y con propósito.

Nuestra visión es cultivar un ambiente de aprendizaje riguroso y de apoyo que inspire a los estudiantes a alcanzar su máximo potencial. Como escuela Magnet de Vanguardia, fomentamos altas expectativas, el pensamiento crítico y el amor por el aprendizaje en cada aula.

Tengo una licenciatura en Estudios Interdisciplinarios con una especialización en Educación Bilingüe de la Universidad de Texas-Panamericana y una maestría en Administración Educativa de la Universidad de Houston-Clear Lake. Mi trayectoria educativa ha forjado mi profunda convicción en el poder de la colaboración entre la escuela, las familias y la comunidad.

En De Zavala, a menudo se nos conoce como la "joya escondida" del East End. Con su continuo apoyo, nos comprometemos a brillar aún más.
