About
Henry A. Petersen Elementary was established in 1960 and is located approximately five miles southeast of the Reliant Center at 14404 Waterloo in the Almeda Manor subdivision. The current enrollment for Petersen is approximately 627 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth.

Background
Massachusetts born Henry A. Petersen was an outstanding surgeon and professor at Baylor College of Medicine. He also served for 23 years on the HISD Board of Education, which named a school in his honor in 1968.

Mission
Henry Petersen Elementary School is an institution oriented toward the intelectual growth and physical enhancement of students. Our objective is to strengthen the capacities of each student and consciously prepare them for the challenges to come.

Petersen Elementary will continue to work with staff, students, parents, and the community to increase student achievement by helping all students reach their full potential. As life-long learners our students will grow to become competent citizens in the global community.
