  • Mother-Son Dance

    Friday, May 1, 2015
    6:00-7:30 p.m.

Mothers are most often the most influential female in the lives of their boys.  A mother-son event allows a mother the special quality time to spend with her son. A mother’s love makes him stronger and more independent. Moms make an indelible imprint on the lives of their sons. How they nurture, cuddle, respond, kiss, reassure, encourage, teach and love their boys determines a son’s capacity for a healthy beginning in life — both emotionally and cognitively.

Every interaction a mother has with her son has the potential to shape his perspective and impact his future relationships.  Provide the special boy in your life with an escort to the 1st annual “Mother-Son Dance”, and make this event special and memorable.

  • Askew will host Career Day on
    Friday, May 15, 2015.

As we prepare our scholars to achieve at high levels, we want them to be exposed to the many career opportunities available.  Please contact Mrs. Washington (kwashin6@houstonisd.org), our school counselor, if you would like to participate by speaking on your career to four small groups of students, including time for Q&A.

Students will rotate into the different classrooms where the presenters will be setup.  For this age group, props or visual aids work best, ranging from Powerpoint presentations, pictures, or actual items used to perform duties.  As we get closer to the event, Mrs. Washington will send communication about how the day will progress.
