Coach Curtis Bason

Coach Curtis Bason is in his first year at Chavez High School as Head Boys' Basketball Coach.. He has several years of coaching experience. A graduate from the University of Arkansas at Monticello by way of the renowned Southwest High School, in Macon, Georgia. Bason played at Wiley College during the 2007-08 season and was awarded “Most Improved Player.”   Coach Bason brings with him the following experience:

  • 2018-2019 Varsity Boys' Basketball Assistant Coach at Port Arthur Memorial a 29-6 record overall and Co-District Champions
  • 2016-18 he taught Social Studies and coached at Humble Middle School winning district both season and the District Tournament Championship in 2018-19
  • 2015-17 Wiley College as a Men's Assistant Basketball Coach. In 2016-17 he assisted Wiley College in a historic run by going 20-2 which was the best start in school history, ranked 4th nationally in NAIA (highest rank in school history, and a NAIA National Tournament participant.
  • Smith Middle School in Beaumont, TX winning District all 3 seasons.
  • Coach Bason has also coached several Elite grassroots programs and has helped several athletes earn college basketball scholarships. 

Coach Bason is very excited to play a vital role in the development of young men as athletes, but most importantly, as productive citizens and students.
