  • Coach Elvis Davis JR.

    Head Wrestling Coach

Coach Davis holds the positions of head wrestling coach and defensive line football coach at Chavez High School. As an alumnus of HISD, he graduated from Bellaire High School and earned a Division 1 NAIA football scholarship to Texas College in Tyler, Texas. With experience of coaching various sports at different levels, Coach Davis brings a wealth of knowledge to his roles.

For student-athletes interested in joining the wrestling team, the program offers opportunities to enhance strength, endurance, flexibility, and competitiveness. Wrestling's unique combination of physical and mental demands challenges participants' toughness, fostering the development of discipline, agility, balance, and strength. Wrestlers who rise to this challenge gain respect for the sport and experience a sense of accomplishment, regardless of the match outcome.

The program's overarching goal is to expand participation among both boys and girls, aiming for sustained competitiveness and postseason recognition year after year. If you seek more information or have inquiries, please feel free to reach out to Coach Davis. elvis.davis@houstonisd.org.
