Verification of Enrollment
for Driver’s Ed, Permit or License
(from HISD’s Secondary School Guidelines)
Any person who is under 18 years of age cannot get a driver's license unless he has been graduated or in attendance at school for at least 80 days in the fall or spring semester preceding the date of application. Excused absences do not count against the 80-day requirement. The "Verification Of Enrollment and Attendance" forms are available on-line at http://thsc.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/texas-verification-of-enrollment-and-attendance-form.pdf . Schools are responsible for notifying students of this requirement and for providing them with the necessary verification information. Students are responsible for obtaining the verification forms before the end of the school year. This information will otherwise not be available to students who enroll in drivers' education classes during the summer. A school may not impose more stringent attendance requirements than provided by law. Please also review the VOE information on page 14 of your student’s handbook. An electronic version of the handbook can also be found on this CVHS website.
