Welcome to the Ashford Elementary School website! I also want to extend an extra welcome to our inaugural fourth and fifth grade classes. Our 5th grade students will be our Lead Eagles as we soar to great heights this year! We are also expanding our Dual Language program to Pre-Kindergarten and First Grade.
I am excited to start my fourth year at Ashford Elementary. I firmly believe it is my job and responsibility to ensure that every student receives the best education possible while here at Ashford. Every year a child goes to school should be the best year they experience. By working together, we will succeed!
Our first commitment to you is to provide quality reading and math instruction in a safe secure environment. Our theme this year is a continuation of our theme last year with a new twist…”TEAM=Together Everyone Achieves More.” We, the Ashford school staff, want to team together with you, parents and guardians, to make Ashford an exemplary campus that meets the needs of all of us, most importantly our students. We will combine the best practices in reading and math to create a strong instructional program that meets the needs of all students. We believe that all children can learn, regardless of what they bring to school. Learning for all children can be accomplished by home and school forming a partnership built on high expectations and support for learning activities.
Our second commitment to you is student safety. We utilize the Raptor program for identification of everyone who comes to our campus. It is a very simple process of scanning driver’s licenses and comparing this information to a database. Anyone who is a convicted child predator will be flagged. We also have a card access system at our entry doors. When you come to school, buzz the front door, and the door will be opened.
Finally, as part of our commitment to student safety, we encourage all parents to obtain a car rider tag and follow our arrival and dismissal procedures. Car rider tags are available in the front office. This handbook includes Arrival and Dismissal Maps. Please review these maps carefully as we have changed our procedures to aid with the flow of traffic. Please do not park in the neighborhoods or block driveways. We want to be good neighbors. For the safety of all everyone, refrain from using cellular phones in the school zone.
We are looking forward to working with you and your children this year!
