•  Understanding the Ranking System

    •  To be clear: there is no lottery weight given to the ranks.  Each application for each school to which the student qualifies will have equal chance of selection in  the lottery.
    • To be clear, part II:  the student must apply and qualify for a given school's program in order to be in that school's lottery.
    • What Ranking Means:  After the lottery has been run, acceptance to a higher ranked school will automatically drop lower ranked schools from your selection options.
    • What Ranking Means, Part II:  students with an acceptance to a Magnet program will no longer remain on the waitlist of lesser ranked schools.

If you are later accepted to your Rank 2 school, you will have 3 business days to decide to keep your Rank 3 school or switch to your Rank 2 school.

Because you were accepted to your Rank 1 school, all other schools will be dropped from your selection options by the online application system.

A Third Example of What this Means:

Because you were accepted at the highest ranking school to which your child qualified, all other schools will be dropped from your selection options by the online application system.

It is in your child's best interest for you to research, tour, and consider carefully every school to which you apply and rank them according to the preferences that will be the best fit for your child.
