The CVHS Vanguard Magnet Program offers a multidisciplinary, accelerated education designed to challenge and inspire high-achieving students.
All students are required to take Pre-AP and AP courses in core subjects, with a wide range of advanced electives also available.
The program is designed to nurture students' giftedness across multiple disciplines while fostering growth in both academic and leadership skills.
Each year, students advance in their subjects as well as their AP path, participating in research projects that culminate in a dedicated research class during their junior year. In this class, students choose a topic of their interest, work under the guidance of mentors and teachers, and either write a research paper or create a final product.
By the end of the program, students will have completed a minimum of 9 AP courses if the student chooses TPSP and a minimum of 11 AP courses if the student chooses AP research and produces a comprehensive research paper or project.
CVHS students are required to take courses offered by our school and may not enroll in summer classes or external courses without prior authorization from our counselors. This policy ensures the integrity of our rigorous program, as summer courses do not match the depth and rigor of a full-year class at CVHS.
Students should be prepared to complete our full curriculum and take all required courses within our school.
