This French IV AP language course focuses on offering access and opportunity for all students to gain culturally authentic world language reading, writing, listening and speaking skills that students will need to become college and career ready in a 21st century global marketplace. The key to success in language learning is to immerse yourself in the language as much as you can. It is encouraged for students to make the use of French resources online and applications for learning such as “7 jours sur la planète” as much as possible.
This course prepares the student for the French AP exam using the three modes of communication, interpersonal, interpretive and presentational. This course will be taught exclusively in French and is based on the six themes required by the College Board, namely:
- Global challenges
- Science and technology
- Contemporary life
- Personal and public identities
- Families and communities
- Beauty and aesthetics
This course teaches language structures in context and focuses on the development of fluency. The students will study the French culture from both a historical and a contemporary context.
Textbooks we will be using: AP French LADD , Barrons AP course, Trèsors du Temps, Face à Face and AP grammar (APrenons) and Allons au-delà. We will also use plenty of online resources, news etc…
In order to master French grammar we will be reading two fun and interesting books which read as a novel. In the first semester “La grammaire est une chanson douce” and in the second semester “Les chevaliers du subjonctif ».
