Crystal Byers (English IV and AP Literature and Composition) is a veteran teacher with a love of story and writing, art and teenagers. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Mrs. Byers grew up dancing on Main Street of small-town America. She declared herself a Modern Dance major at the University of Oklahoma where she eventually graduated with a BBA in Marketing. Later, with two children in tow, she returned to school and completed a Secondary English teaching certification at the University of Texas at Dallas. Mrs. Byers taught in Plano and Frisco, Texas, for ages before relocating to Houston with her husband of nearly thirty-two years. She took a little sabbatical to complete her MFA in Creative Writing at Houston Baptist University. Her writing has been featured with The Houston Flood Museum, The Porch, and Brevity. Mrs. Byers couldn’t be more thrilled about her return to teaching at PVA for her twenty-first year in the classroom.
