    Algebra I  

    The focus of Algebra I is solving relevant and interesting problems by applying algebraic principles in a variety of real-world situations. Manipulatives, including graphing calculators, will be used. Topics will include the real number system, algebraic representation, functions, inequalities, and polynomials. At the completion of two semesters of Algebra I, students take a statewide Algebra 1 STAAR Exam (AKA end-of-course exam (EoC)) 

     

    Geometry

    The purpose of this course is to emphasize the relationship between geometry and algebra in order to strengthen the students' abilities to formulate and analyze problems inside and outside mathematics. Objectives include understanding the concepts of congruence, geometric inequalities, similarity, right triangles, circles, constructions, areas and volumes, and coordinate and transformational geometry.

     

    PreAP Geometry with Statistics

    This College Board course is organized into four core units of study with content that is grounded in three big ideas which are cross-cutting throughout the course. The concepts of measurement, transformation and comparison and composition build conceptual understanding and spiral throughout the course. The four units of study, in order, are measurement in data, tools and techniques of geometric measurement, measurement in congruent and similar figures, measurement in two and three dimensions.

     

    Algebra 2

    The goal of this course is to prepare students to successfully pursue more advanced topics in mathematics. The topics will include a review of Algebra I. New topics will include the use of complex numbers, quadratic functions, coordinate geometry, logarithmic and exponential functions, solving and graphing polynomial functions, sequences and series, and probability. 

     

    PreAP Algebra 2

    The focus of PreAP Algebra 2 is on applying and solving algebraic principles in a variety of real-world situations. Topics will include a review of Algebra I, quadratic functions and relations, systems of equations, numerical methods and higher degree polynomials, exponential and logarithmic functions, rational and algebraic functions, sequences and series, and probability and statistics.

     

    AP Pre-Calculus

    This course explores advanced topics of Algebra 2 and trigonometry in preparation for AP Calculus. Trigonometry topics include trigonometric functions, radian measure of angles, graphing trigonometric functions, and inverse trigonometric functions. Other topics include complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic functions, sequences and series, polynomial functions, and statistics and probability.

     

    AP Statistics

    This Advanced Placement course is one full academic year of work in statistics. It is equivalent to a one-semester, introductory, non-calculus-based college course in statistics. The course introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. There are four themes in the AP Statistics course: exploring data, sampling and experimentation, anticipating patterns, and statistical inference. Students use technology, investigations, problem solving, and writing as they build conceptual understanding. By the end of the course students should feel prepared for the Advanced Placement Statistics examination

     

    AP Calculus

    This Advanced Placement course in mathematics consists of a full academic year of work in calculus and related topics comparable to courses in colleges and universities. Topics covered include elementary functions, limits, and differential and integral calculus with careful attention to applications. Students are also provided with a rigorous preparation for the Advanced Placement Calculus examination.

     

    Algebraic Reasoning

    Algebraic Reasoning is for 12th grade students who are working toward meeting the college and career readiness Texas standards.  The course is organized by the Texas Success Center which emphasizes the connections and use of multiple strands of mathematics in situations and problems, as well as in the study of other disciplines.  The goal of this course is to develop students’ quantitative and algebraic reasoning abilities, thus preparing them for college and career success.
