  • Black History Month

    Askew Elementary will celebrate Black History month by challenging our students to become more aware of the many accomplishments of African American people, past and present in several different ways.  There will be a “Who am I?” presentation on the announcements every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, for the month of February, in which select students will present information and the scholars must make an educated guess of who the person is, by the facts given.

    Also, every grade level has been assigned a bulletin board that will they will decorate by topic.  Kindergarten will design a quilt, 1st grade- Athletics, 2nd grade- Entertainers, 3rd grade-Inventors, 4th grade-Politicians, 5th grade Civil Rights Activist.  The bulletin boards will be judged for a grade level prizes.
    In conclusion, on Thursday, February 26, 2015,  at 6 p.m. our students will present “The Motown Story” written and directed by Askew Elementary’ s fifth grade teacher,  Ms. Batson.
